“It’s A Wonder

A few days ago a friend of mine encouraged me to look at John O’Donoghue’s book, To Bless This Space Between Us. I looked through the book and came to the last section which is called, To Retrieve the Lost Art of Blessing. It reminded me that for many of us we have lost the art of blessing, not just as grace before a meal but the art of blessing every aspect of the day and of what we do. Today the phrase, “Each new day is a path of wonder” caught my attention and I have been thinking about the journey that each day takes us on. No day stands still; each one moves through different territory, awakening new beginnings.

Special Service “Transgender Day of Remembrance” 5pm November 20, 2022

“Transgender Day of Remembrance

5:00-6:00pm

This evening, join us for a special, interfaith service in honor of Trans Day of Remembrance. For many trans individuals, their relationship with faith is a complex one, one that often comes with challenges and joys that may not always be apparent, spoken, or heard. For this special service, we are giving space for trans individuals and their family members to share their stories and experience as members of our varied faith communities. After the service, we will process over to Brew where we will join TRANSLIFE, Positive Images, and other local organizations in honoring the memory of the trans folks whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence.

“Change as Transition

Have you ever stopped to consider what a world without change would be like? Without change we would be frozen in time and space. In this way, change opens a world abundant with potential and possibility — a living moment for which we can be grateful. Many of us may feel that change arouses fear and anxiety. Mindfulness is a tool that can help us to deal with change as a transition. I invite you to come and explore mindfulness in change.

“Making Friends with Change

If there’s one thing that can be counted on in life, it’s change. Sages, scientists and philosophers have agreed on this simple fact since time immemorial. “Nothing endures but change”, declared Heraclitus back in Ancient Greece. A profound acceptance of this truth -that all things are impermanent – can truly transform the way we live. I invite you to come and try and see change with new eyes by appreciating what it brings to our lives.

“The Grace to Accept Every Moment as a Gift by Rev. Dan O’Neal

This archive sermon by Rev. Dan O’Neal reminds us that we can only be fully alive when we embrace the reality of the moment. This means doing what we can to make positive change, and also accepting what we can’t change. By facing his own illness with openness and grace, he offers us an example of claiming life through acceptance in even the most difficult circumstances.

“What are Acts of Courage?

An Invitation Into the Mystery of Life, Death and the Afterlife. Samhain, All Saint’s Day, All Hallows Eve, Dios de los Muertos. Many cultures recognize that this is the time of the year when the veil between the worlds grows ‘thin” and we can connect with loved ones that have moved on from this life. Today we honor loved ones past. Today we come into the “Thin Place.” Please bring a memento of one of your ancestors, as we build an alter to honor them.

“What is Another Meaning of Courage?

Some common synonyms of courage are mettle, resolution, spirit, and tenacity. While all these words mean “mental or moral strength to resist opposition, danger, or hardship,” courage implies firmness of mind and will in the face of danger or extreme difficulty.

“How Do We Conquer Our Fears And What Does Courage Have to Do With It?

Courage when focused can help us to have triumph over our fears. “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”- Nelson Mandela
