“Many are called, but few are chosen,” says the Bible. It might also have said, “many are called, but few choose to respond.” Rev. Chris will discuss his experience of being called to the ministry, as well as the tragic and unnecessary anti-clericalism that often infects our UU tradition. We must be clear, a sense of calling is NOT restricted to ministers; neither are one’s calling and one’s job necessarily the same thing. We are called when. ever our deep gladness meets the world’s deep need, as Frederick Buechner put it. What are the deep needs of the world? What is your deep gladness?
