Following the 11 AM service in the Board Room

Our sixth film program of this year’s Care In Community Film Series treats issues of aging, longevity, and ageism. The 1993 documentary “Growing Old in a New Age: Myths and Realities of Aging” and the 2017 Ted Talk by Ashton Applewhite, entitled “Let’s End Ageism” explore common myths surrounding aging as Compared with today’s realities. Acknowledging the longevity revolution in modern societies worldwide, experts and elders describe a wide range of issues including our bodies, love and intimacy, learning and memory, mental health, social roles and relationships, family and intergenerational relationships, work and retirement, and others – knowledge that can help us debunk myths. Elder activist Ashton Applewhite is inspiring in skewering the myths, illuminating the effects of ageism and discrimination, and offering a fresh, new perspective for us all.

Discussion, as always, follows viewing of the film. Please bring whatever you wish to eat. We will offer a snack, not lunch.
